History, restored for today
Behind a protected historic façade in the heart of downtown La Paz, Casa 1880 unfolds into a private compound that balances architectural heritage with contemporary luxury. Sixty-centimeter adobe walls, wood-beamed ceilings, and travertine floors were preserved through a full restoration, completed in 2024, that kept the character intact while rebuilding the property for modern use.
Eleven individually finished suites — most with sound-insulated windows and their own bathroom — surround a central courtyard pool, a restaurant-grade kitchen and dining space, a spa, a library lounge, and a bar. The layout was built to work as a discreet private residence for family and guests, or to continue operating as it does today: a boutique hospitality property with an established foundation for income.
The mechanical side matches the ambition of the restoration — solar power, a 20 kW backup generator, and a 40,000-liter cistern give the property real operational independence, on municipal water and CFE electricity, in a walkable historic district a few minutes from the Malecón.
